For over 40-years, Oregon Trail Eye Center has been serving the panhandle of Nebraska, our neighbors in Eastern Wyoming and beyond. As the premier ophthalmology and eye surgery center, we are dedicated to embracing and promoting excellence in the field of ophthalmology.  To encourage this commitment to excellence, we feel it is paramount that all members of our team meet the highest of standards that have been set and upheld for more than four decades. 
 

Our Technicians have an integral part in the examination process by working under the direction of board-certified ophthalmologists and optometrist to perform many of the tests, scans and measurements utilized during eye examinations to diagnose and treat patients.

Shortly after hire, technicians here at Oregon Trail Eye Center, enlist in the process of studying to pass the Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) examination process offered by JCAHPO (Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel). All newly hired technicians spend a significant amount of time shadowing and being mentored by doctors and seasoned technicians to learn the ins and outs of ophthalmology. Once these staff member acquire their COA certification, they are required to stay well versed in the rapidly advancing and evolving field of ophthalmology through ongoing continuing education courses in the continually progressing field of ophthalmology.  

To compliment the specialized skills of our technicians; and one of the most vital areas of every clinical practice is the administrative and patient services team.  These folks interact with our current and prospective patients’ day in and day out. These team members are comprised of our front desk staff, phone counselors, surgery schedulers, and billing department. Their goal is to assist and educate patients with a high level of professionalism and patience, while providing the upmost customer service. All members of our patient services team are expected to pass the Certified Patient Service Specialist (CPSS) exam, a program that sets a national standard of excellence in quality patient care and customer service for ophthalmic staff.
